Melissa McCarthy has flattering clothing line

Melissa McCarthy wants her clothing line to make people "feel good about themselves".

The 41-year-old actress is creating her first fashion line for plus-sized women.

Although Melissa had herself in mind while designing the apparel, she hopes that others will embrace her clothes too.

"I just want people to wear it and feel good about themselves," Melissa said Us Weekly at the Ma Mere/Art Pere Night charity function in Los Angeles this week.

"I haven't thought about anyone else but me! It's just a lame way to get me clothes I want."

This may be her first line, but Melissa is very familiar with fashion. She was educated on the subject in her youth and is happy to reconnect with the garment industry.

"I went to school for clothes and textiles, so I always thought I was going to do women's clothing anyway," Melissa explained.

"[Then I went] from FIT to doing standup, so I feel like I am going back to it."

Melissa is elated to create pieces that she can add to her wardrobe. The star has spoken previously about how difficult it is for her to find good clothes in her size. Melissa struggled to find a gown for the 63rd Primetime Emmy awards this year.

She eventually decided to make her dress herself with the help of designer Daniella Pearl.

"Trying to find stuff that's still fashion-forward in my size is damn near impossible," Melissa said. "It's either for like a 98-year-old woman or a 14-year-old hooker, and there is nothing in the middle."

Melissa's line is currently in development.
