Melissa McCarthy: I accept my body

Melissa McCarthy admits that motherhood has helped her accept her body.

The actress is mom to daughters, Vivian, 4, and Georgette, 18 months, with husband Ben Falcone. Melissa has confessed that she used to worry about her curvy figure, but motherhood has helped her understand the important things in life.

"The stupid stuff like what I wear or how I look I can't control," Melissa revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, "So I just try not to give much energy to it. At 20, I would have been like, 'Don't they like me? Was it my hair?' At 41, I think the things that define me, I hope, are a lot more than those kind of petty things."

The Bridesmaids star does admit that finding fashionable clothes in her size is a challenge. Melissa struggled to find a gown for the 63rd Primetime Emmy awards this year. She eventually decided to make her dress herself with the help of designer Daniella Pearl.

"Trying to find stuff that's still fashion-forward in my size is damn near impossible," she insisted. "It's either for like a 98-year-old woman or a 14-year-old hooker, and there is nothing in the middle."

However, the evening was a success for Melissa.

She dazzled on the red carpet in her own floor length purple gown and took home the Best Comedic Actress gong for her performance in Mike and Molly.
