Michelle Williams' costumes 'were a challenge'

Michelle Williams' My Week with Marilyn costume designer says she had to "trawl" vintage fairs to find the right outfits for the film.

The stunning actress plays the legendary movie star in the picture.

Jill had a difficult time creating the right outfits because any original Marilyn clothes were too valuable to be lent out, and yet the costumes still had to look authentic.

"Almost everything had to be made. I'd sketch, collect fabrics, then the dressmakers put them together. I trawled fairs and clothes dealers. Some of Michelle's knitwear and shoes were vintage."

Despite the struggles, Jill really enjoyed creating the period clothing. The designer loved delving in to the world of ultimate Hollywood glamour.

"Sotheby's, which held a big auction of Marilyn's clothing, gave us one of its catalogues as a reference. All in all it was a wonderful experience," she gushed.
