Miranda Kerr discusses bra honour
Miranda Kerr is "honoured" to be wearing this year's Victoria's Secret Fantasy Bra.
Every year the luxury lingerie label selects one model to don the special piece during their fashion show. The Fantasy Bra is always one-of-a-kind, and this year is no exception. The 2011 version is called the Fantasy Treasure Bra and is studded with diamonds. It's so intricate the item has been valued at $2.5 million.
"It's such an honour to wear the bra," Miranda told People. "And it's such a piece of artwork! It's absolutely stunning - it kind of feels a little mermaid-like - but I can't believe I'm wearing $2.5 million on my chest."
Miranda will be seen in the lingerie at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show next month and in the company's Christmas catalogue.
The bra was created by London Jewellers in Long Island. It boasts almost 3,400 stones, of which there are 142 carats of yellow and white diamonds. The push-up piece is an aquamarine colour and also includes pearls and citrine stones which are all set in gold. The main stones in the bra are two eight carat white diamonds and a pair of yellow diamonds which are over 13 carats.
"We put a lot of love into this bra," jeweller Candy Udell told the publication.
Daughter Randi explained: "We put a lot of our most favourite elements into it, such as the tassel - it'll be wonderful with her walking down the runway, the tassel swinging with her body. We thought about the runway show, and what would catch everyone's attention."
The Fantasy Bras are renowned for being costly. The 2009 Harlequin Fantasy version was priced at $3 million while 2008's Blake Diamond Fantasy Miracle Bra was $5 million. The most expensive version was modelled by Gisele Bündchen in 2000 and was worth a jaw-dropping $15 million.
