Miss Piggy: I am the trend

Miss Piggy may have suffered “unfortunate run-ins with spandex” in the past, but now she’s transformed into “her own fashionista”.

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Miss Piggy used to follow fashion fads, but now she’s become “the trend”.

The Muppet is out to impress since splitting from long-term froggy boyfriend Kermit in August (15). And rather than wallow in the mud of her misery, the snouted star has taken the chance to develop her personal style.

“I have become far more discriminating about what I wear,” she told WWD when quizzed on how her look has changed over the years.

“There was a time when I wafted in the winds of every fashion trend. As for most of us, this resulted in some extremely unfortunate run-ins with spandex, bejewelled headbands and can’t-get-through-the-doorway shoulder pads. However, I’m now my own fashionista. I don’t follow trends. I am the trend.”

Miss Piggy luckily has a dedicated team she can rely on to keep her fabulous at all times. Her make-up artist and hairdressers are on call 24/7 and her publicist is “marvellous” at making unflattering photos disappear.

She also works with designer Stephen Rotondaro, who has her particular needs down to a tee.

“Well, she’s a little bit difficult to design for because she is a larger-size girl, so we need to find flattering silhouettes - wrap dresses, whether it’s a knit or woven fabric, always look good on her,” he explained. “She also looks stunning in sheaths and we’ve done those in both day and evening fabrics.”

Miss Piggy was also happy to share her top beauty tip with fans. Just like Kim Kardashian, she swears by contouring.

“I believe in using whatever means necessary - make-up, lighting, special effects - to draw attention to my best features,” she said.

“Of course, with as many best features as I have, it’s fun to choose a different one each day. For instance, on Monday I may draw attention to my cheeks, Tuesday is for my eyes, Wednesday is for my left ear and so forth. It usually takes about a month and a half to highlight all of my best features.”
