Naomie Harris’ fashion faux pas
Naomie Harris cringes when she thinks back to a short dress she wore to an awards show.
The British actress looks effortlessly chic at red carpet events and favours a feminine flair to her outfits.
However when she was studying, her look couldn’t have be more different and stylish ensembles were a long way off.
“As a student at Cambridge [University] I had no fashion sense and looked very grungy. Zadie Smith [novelist] was my contemporary and wore really colourful head scarves and always looked chic.
“I recently met Zadie again at a dinner at [Burberry CEO] Christopher Bailey’s house. It’s the first time we’d spoken at length — we mostly talked about babies,” Naomie divulged to standard.co.uk.
Luckily Naomie has put her moody wardrobe days behind her and now wows in designer garments when hitting the red carpet.
She’s a regular at A-list award shows, but confesses she doesn’t always get it right in the style stakes.
“My biggest fashion faux pas was wearing a Matthew Williamson dress to the BAFTAs several years ago. It was inappropriately short. I looked very out of place and made it on to a lot of worst-dressed lists,” she confessed.
As an actress Naomie normally finds herself dressed in a character’s clothes while shooting movies. One of her most famous roles is playing Eve Moneypenny in the James Bond films, where she gets to wear a glamorous wardrobe.
While the 38-year-old didn’t get to keep any of her onscreen alter ego’s clothes, she was gifted with a few goodies last time filming wrapped.
“I didn’t take anything from the Skyfall set, but Sam Mendes [director] gave me a baseball cap and Barbara Broccoli [producer] gave me a lovely bracelet and necklace,” she smiled.
