Natalie Dormer: I'm learning to love myself

Natalie Dormer gets dressed up for premieres so much that she doesn't feel a "pull" to go wedding dress shopping.

The 32-year-old actress rose to worldwide fame overnight after landing the role of Margaery Tyrell in fantasy show Game of Thrones. She has also landed her biggest film role to date as Cressida in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and Part 2.

Natalie is aware of the attention surrounding her looks but doesn't let criticism get to her. She recently completed the Virgin Money London Marathon in three hours, 50 minutes and 57 seconds; an achievement which has boosted her confidence.

“I’d love to just be a girl in a pair of jeans, running around London!” she smiled to Flare magazine about wanting to play a contemporary character.

“When you’re in the public eye, it’s hard to negotiate your relationship with your body. But the way I look at it is: if I can run 26 miles in under four hours, then there’s nothing wrong with my body.

“Sometimes younger girls see things and maybe they’ve been Photoshopped or whatever, and they take it to heart. There’s all this angst, and it’s just not necessary.”

Natalie is currently engaged to director Anthony Byrne, who she met while filming TV programme The Tudors. Despite agreeing to get married in 2011 the blonde beauty hasn't started looking for a dress yet and wishes she felt a little more enthusiastic about the shopping process.

“It’s such a thing, right? So many little girls dream about their wedding day,” she smiled. “But with actresses, sometimes it’s the inverse, because we get to be the centre of attention, looked up and down, dressed up for premieres all the time. The pull isn’t quite as great.”
