Natalie Dormer talks workout plans
Natalie Dormer has no idea how she managed to squeeze in training for the London Marathon while shooting The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.
The 33-year-old actress is known for her lithe physique. However, Natalie admits that getting into shape for her role in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 while also training for the London Marathon certainly took its toll on her.
"I actually look back on it now and think, 'F***ing hell, how did I do that?'” Natalie told Self magazine.
Natalie stars as Cressida in The Hunger Games franchise. But she admits to the publication that she had to work hard to get into shape for the role.
"In Mockingjay – Part 2, I'm basically running around in heavy armor while carrying a semiautomatic rifle," Natalie said. "I don't know how I would have kept up with [my costars] Liam Hemsworth or Sam Claflin if I hadn't been in the best cardiovascular shape of my life."
To get into shape for the role, Natalie alternated running around Atlanta, where The Hunger Games was filmed, with hour-long workouts in the evening.
Natalie also had to watch her diet to ensure she remained in top physical form for the part.
So to cope with the 5am call times for Hunger Games, Natalie survived on green juice for breakfast.
"When you have early calls, you don't necessarily want to eat first thing in the morning," she said.
As well as her movie roles, Natalie is well known for her work on the small screen, as Margaery Tyrell in hit American TV show Game of Thrones.
And Natalie also revealed that her workout and diet regime has also helped her get into character as her alter ego.
"Being strapped into a corset with this long flowing skirt immediately changes the way you look in the mirror," Natalie said. "My way into Margaery is actually quite physical, even though she's not a physical character in the way that Cressida [from the Mockingjay movies] is.”
