Nathalie Emmanuel: ‘I speak up if I’m uncomfortable with GoT costume’
Nathalie Emmanuel has been swimming more for Speedo’s new fitness drive.
Nathalie Emmanuel will always go to Game of Thrones costume designer Michele Clapton if she has any wardrobe worries.
The actress, who made a name for herself on British soap Hollyoaks before conquering Hollywood, plays Missandei on the fantasy TV series, which is back for its penultimate season in July (17).
The show has become known for nudity, and while Nathalie sometimes has to flash the flesh, she will speak out if she isn't comfortable with her onscreen look.
“I used to dance and run and have a general desire to be healthy and to take care of myself, so I’ve never been too concerned about the perceived pressure of looking a certain way,” Nathalie shrugged to InStyle U.K. “I’m also really lucky that my costumes on Game of Thrones have been designed to compliment my body - and that our costume designer, Michele Clapton, is more than willing to work with us on anything we don’t feel comfortable wearing."
Nathalie’s dedication to fitness means that as well as looking good, she also feels good as well. She’s currently encouraging more people to take up swimming, and is fronting Speedo’s #Make1KWet challenge, which is asking fitness fans to swim a kilomtere for every 5k run or 10k cycled.
“Physical activity is so good for your self esteem - you carry it with you. Since taking on the challenge to swim more, I’ve noticed I’ve worked muscles I didn’t know I had, even though I also practice yoga and love running,” the Fate of the Furious actress smiled.
