Nicki Minaj finds the thought of being pictured without make-up “scary”.

The hip-hop superstar appears on ELLE magazine’s April cover showing a natural look.

Trading in her wigs and cosmetics wasn’t easy for the star.

"To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol' crazy lashes - you know, nothing - I felt naked. It was scary!" she told Access Hollywood. "So this photoshoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes."

While she worries about appearing without make-up for the cameras, Nicki never wears it at home.

She shared her beauty tips with which coincides with the UK launch of her fragrance Pink Friday on March 15.

“I think it’s really important for you to let your pores breathe,” Nicki explained. “I wear lots of make-up so I love having a down look and then transforming into the show look. When I’m at home I don’t wear any make-up on my skin at all. I’ll wear lip gloss or lipstick. I’ll still do my eyebrows and my eyes but that’s about it. If I’m going to the studio, I don’t do anything. I don’t even do my eyes. I’ll just put on some lip gloss on and some shades because nobody is going to see me anyway.”
