Nicky Hilton: Vera Wang rescued me

Nicky Hilton nearly didn't make it to her high school graduation as she didn't have the correct outfit.

The blonde socialite is a lover of clothes and can regularly be seen on the front row at Fashion Week shows.

She's also recently released her book 365 Style, a guide to what looks good. Despite her fashion credentials, Nicky nearly had to forgo her high school graduation because she had no dress to wear.

"[My outfit] had to be a white gown, white gloves to the elbow - and of course I did not have that. The morning of [the ceremony], I'm running around to every store with my mother with two hours to spare. Could not find a dress. So we ring up Vera Wang, who's a family friend, and rush over to her showroom. She pins me into one of her gowns with the gloves and everything and I was off for graduation," Nicky recalled to Lucky magazine.

Nicky's love of fashion started at an early age, passed on from her mother Kathy. The hotel heiress still loves receiving hand-me-downs from her mom - especially her vintage designer pieces.

And fortunately for Nicky, older sister Paris has no interest in retro trends.

"She was - and still is - quite a shopper, and my sister doesn't really appreciate vintage clothes, so luckily for me, I get them. I have some amazing Zandra Rhodes, Alaïa, and Pucci from the '80s from my mom that I love and that I've taken to the tailor, reconstructed a bit, fixed the rusty zippers, taken in a little bit and now they fit like a glove. She was going to donate them, and I was like, 'No! I'll take them!'" she laughed.

It's not just a savvy style sense that Kathy passed on, but also beauty rituals that 30-year-old Nicky now swears by.

"I'm very into face stuff and anti-ageing stuff. My mother taught me that you're never too young to start, so since I was 17 I've been religiously using the heavy, anti-ageing night creams, eye creams, toners, all of it," she explained.
