Nicole Kidman chooses dresses based on their wiggle room
Nicole Kidman embraces the chance to dress up whenever she’s given the opportunity.
Nicole Kidman always makes sure that the outfits she chooses give her room to dance in.
The 49-year-old actress was one of the most fashionable stars at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, choosing a variety of showstopping ensembles to wear on the red carpet.
And discussing her fashion rules during a recent interview with VanityFair.com, Nicole admitted she has her priorities straight when it comes to how she picks her outfits.
“The only one that I consider is to feel relaxed,” she said. “Even in something like the Raf dress (the balletic tulle gown designed by Simons for Calvin Klein by Appointment and worn by Nicole at Cannes), I was relaxed.
“I sat next to my director with huge amounts of the dress cascading over him. It was funny. I also want to be able to dance. That’s an important rule for a dress - to be able to dance. At least wiggle!”
Nicole has her fair share of invitations to glamorous events. And whenever she has the opportunity to get dressed up, the mother-of-two fully embraces it.
“Fashion has such a power. I’ve always loved fashion. I love embracing it and it’s rare that you get to really dress up. Trust me, I don’t dress up at home. So when there’s a chance to dress up like at Cannes, I embrace it,” she smiled. “I love doing it and it’s fun. I also love the designers. I love that they care so much.
“I had the best time at Cannes. I went to Australia and I’ve been in England after Cannes and as much as people talk about the films, they really want to talk about the dresses. I’m like, ‘Oh my God!’”
