Nicole Kidman rebels through fashion
Nicole Kidman channels her dreams and aspirations through her outfits.
Nicole Kidman uses fashion as a form of rebellion.
The Oscar-winning actress isn’t afraid to take risks on the red carpet and recently made a splash at Cannes Film Festival in various ensembles, including a gorgeous fringed Michael Kors Collection gown for the premiere of her movie The Beguiled.
Discussing her approach to style, Nicole explained she often chooses pieces that make her feel in control and stand out from the crowd.
“There are dreams attached to fashion,” she told America’s InStyle magazine. “When it’s presented in a way where you go (gasp), it just makes you feel good. It allows me to express what I’m feeling, as in, I want to wear that because that’s actually my rebellion right now. Or that’s my way of fitting in. Or it’s my way of saying no. Or it’s my way of saying I’m different. I grew up with a grandmother and a mother who loved clothes.”
When quizzed, the Big Little Lies actress named John Galliano during his time at Dior and Karl Lagerfeld’s work at Chanel as fashion stars who made an early impression on her.
Nicole, 49, who tied the knot with country singer Keith Urban in 2006 - the couple has two daughters Sunday Rose, eight, and six-year-old Faith Margaret - also revealed she’s planning to give away one of her most prized possessions.
“I’m giving my wedding dress, the Balenciaga one that Nicolas Ghesquiere did for me, to an Australian exhibit called Love,” she explained. “I’ll support anything that supports love. Truly. Isn’t it the essence of everything? It can heal so many things. Good love, sweet love, kind love, gentle love, powerful love. There are so many different forms of love, which then leads to loss, which then leads to all the primary emotions. We all know children who were raised with love. You can see them.”
