Nicole Richie copy-cat style tips

Nicole Richie's style progression is "impressive", says celebrity stylist Joey Tierney.

The reality TV star is famed for her fashion-forward sartorial choices, and recently impressed with a designer combo while filming for her new AOL series Candidly Nicole.

Nicole wowed in the pricey casual ensemble consisting of a Balmain Tank top, costing $585, and a pair of Balmain Striped Silk Georgette Pants, for $1,391.

Celebrity stylist Joey Tierney says although Nicole looks gorgeous in the get-up, cash-strapped fashionistas can still get her look at home.

“This year I am most impressed with Nicole Richie’s style progression. She’s become a major fashion icon, and this is one of her recent looks [that she wore on #CandidlyNicole] that I love because it’s casual, yet super-chic,” she told

Joey suggested a few pieces to replace the designer combo Nicole was wearing on her video clip. The style expert recommended picking up a pair of Space Striped Wide Leg Trousers from, along with a $14.80 Mirrored Tiger Print Top from and a stylish Helmut Lang Kinetic Jersey Knit Cardigan for $140.

“The long blazer is great for work - then you can easily take it off after, when you are grabbing drinks with your friends and still look fabulous," she advised.

"Stripes are also a big trend this year and a favourite from the spring/summer runways. They’re a great compromise for women who are afraid to try bold prints as well.”

Nicole is married to Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden and the pair have two children together, Harlow and Sparrow.

The star recently revealed that while her husband is helpful with the parenting, the same can’t be said if she needs style advice.

“No!” she giggled, when People asked if Joel dishes out fashion tips. “He just noticed I had bangs. He noticed those a year ago and we’ve been together for seven years. I’m still waiting for everything from the neck down. He just noticed my bangs.”
