Olivia Wilde inspired by Gucci
Olivia Wilde loved the hats she wore while shooting new movie Rush.
The actress is Suzy Miller in the new movie, which is about the rivalry between Formula One drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda. The film is set in the '70s and getting the costumes was fundamental for helping Olivia and her co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl get in character.
"The hats. I wore all Gucci, which was really nice of Gucci to help us with this film to help us create this '70s vibe," Olivia told ET.
"Once I put on the wardrobe I thought, 'Oh I know who this chick is, I can do this.'
"All of us were transforming into these '70s creatures. I mean, Chris Hemsworth looked so much like James Hunt, it was creepy."
Chris sites the pointy collars on his shirts as the thing which really resonated with him. He would put them on and immediately feel like he had stepped back in time.
This is exactly what director Ron Howard was hoping for. He was also keen to get Olivia heavily involved with the wardrobe and thinks her help was invaluable.
"Olivia who knows her way around fashion - I made her an important collaborator," he explained. "But we were also fortunate that we were able to go to the designers at Gucci, Ferragamo... it's authentic because they were huge in the '70s. You look around and that is what everyone was wearing."
