Panettiere bought Globes gown
Hayden Panettiere got the monochrome Tom Ford dress she wore to the Golden Globes on Sunday off the rack.
Most stars borrow their entire outfits from designers and jewellers for red carpet events.
But the Nashville actress bucked the trend by choosing her monochrome Tom Ford gown off the rack ahead of Sunday's ceremony.
"I'm obsessed with it! I freaked out that I'm even wearing it. Anything he makes is just stunning," she told People magazine.
The 24-year-old tried on more dresses than usual before finding 'the one'.
However, the search was worth it and the former Heroes star was happy to put her money where her mouth is.
"I bought this one. I actually get to keep it, which is really weird to me, that I don't have to worry about somebody showing up on my doorstep going, 'Where's the dress? Give it back!'" she said.
"It's like buying a piece of art. You can hopefully keep it forever."
Hayden, who is engaged to Ukrainian heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitschko, also debuted a new, shorter hair style to complement the "sexy, vampy and comfortable" vibe of her gown.
But the star admits the change was for no other reason than to improve the health of her hair.
"Fried ends, split ends," she said. "That's the inspiration. I got to chop off my hair and it's fun and I can finally get away with it again."
