Rachel Bilson: Designing tests me

Rachel Bilson thinks footwear designing is "exciting and challenging".

The stunning actress recently teamed up with her long-time stylist Nicole Chavez to collaborate with membership style site Beachmint.com.

Rachel is the latest celebrity curator for the online store, launching ShoeMint.com - the customised shoe section of the site.

The star is thrilled to be involved with the project.

"In the past, I've been lucky to work on design collaborations with DKNY Jeans and with Macy's for my homeware line, Edie Rose. Footwear is really exciting and challenging," she told WWD.

"Nicole and I have very strong opinions about what we like and what style elements we want to incorporate. Steve is absolutely fantastic at translating our vision and designs, and we're learning a lot about shoes in the process."

Steve Madden is partnering on the production of the shoe line.

Rachel has explained what attracted her to the footwear business. The brunette beauty thinks women should have a wide range of choice when it comes to shoes.

"I am a shoe fanatic, but I have always had a tough time finding cool shoes to fit me, as I am only a size five. I've been dreaming about my ideal shoes for years," she said.

"Versatility has always been really important to me. I'm all about finding an accessory you love and making it work with different looks."

Rachel thinks ShoeMint could be very successful. She believes in the brand's vision.

"The potential for the site is huge," she exclaimed.

"Customers have really come to trust the BeachMint brands. There's already a relationship there, so we hope to engage those members and attract new ones."

BeachMint launched in October 2010 with JewelMint. The jewellery line was designed by Hollywood star Kate Bosworth and her stylist and friend Cher Coulter.
