Rachel Bilson's 'effortless' style revealed

Rachel Bilson's hairstylist has revealed how to recreate her casually tousled half-up look.

The actress wowed with a casual half-up tousled 'do recently. Her hairstylist, Davy Newkirk, created a similar look at Comic-Con earlier this month and revealed the brunette beauty likes to keep things simple.

"She always wants to look cool, stylish, yet effortless," he told Bella Sugar. "I thought that her hair back off her face would look great, so I went for a cool half-up and half-down style, making sure to have a great texture to give it a modern look."

Davy started by applying a de-tangler to Rachel's damp hair, before adding volume boosting mousse to the roots. He went on to roughly dry her long locks.

"Then, using a medium round brush, I smoothed the hair out and gave some more lift to the roots," he explained.

When the hair was dry, Davy took sections of Rachel's hair and wrapped them around a curling iron. He started at the nape and worked his way up the head to create a tousled texture.

"Using my fingers and a blow dryer, I broke up and tousled the curls," he added.

Davy then pulled the top sections of Rachel's hair back and secured with bobby pins to create the half-up look.

Finally he brushed the hair with a wide-toothed comb and set the style with fine hairspray.

For her Comic-Con appearance, Rachel complemented her tousled hair with a fresh-faced make-up look. She wore a natural lip gloss and sported radiantly rosy cheeks, along with several coats of mascara and eyeliner on both her upper and lower lids to show off her brown eyes.
