Rihanna: Dior campaign seems impossible
Rihanna has spoken of her appointment as the new face of luxury brand Dior, saying that the honour “seems impossible almost”.
The 27-year-old Bajan beauty has joined an elite group of women – including Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman and Marion Cotillard – who have fronted campaigns for the luxury French fashion label.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight as she promoted her new animated movie, Home, the singer revealed she’s still pinching herself at being named the first black woman to represent the brand.
"It doesn't feel real," she admitted, clearly still taking it all in. "It seems impossible almost."
The songstress will make her debut in the fourth episode of the fashion house’s Secret Garden Spring 2015 video series.
On Sunday, Dior gave a behind-the-scenes teaser as they announced Rihanna’s appointment, posting a photo to Twitter of the elaborate backdrop for the shoot. The video was filmed at the historic Château de Versailles, just outside of Paris.
"On the set of Secret Garden 4, filmed by Steven Klein in @CVersailles with guest star @Rihanna. #SecretGarden4,” they captioned the image, featuring stunning ornate gold lamps lining a grand room complete with curved, elaborately painted high ceilings.
Along with the video, Rihanna also shot the accompanying print campaign on the grounds of Versailles, no doubt looking a million dollars decked out in Dior’s famously elaborate and feminine gowns.
Rihanna’s appointment, while a huge coup for the star, is certainly not her first. The star is also the face of such high-end brands as Balmain, Gucci and Emporio Armani.
