Rihanna relaxes design approach

Rihanna has created more relaxed, wearable pieces for her final River Island range.

The Bajan singer is set to launch her last ever range for the British high street store later this week. Her previous items for the company have been garish, including pieces such as a netted crop top and hotpants imprinted with 'G 4 LIFE'.

However, Rihanna has gone for a more relaxed approach for her Winter 2013 collection and created a sophisticated, subdued line.

Items include a simple floor-length black halter-neck dress, dark floral velvet trousers and simple pencil skirts available in several shades. The star has also created warm coats, one with a red tartan pattern and black collar.

Staying true to her unique sense of style there more edgy pieces which would work perfectly on a night out, such as leather shorts and a gold tuxedo dress.

Along with the clothing are smaller items such as stiletto heels and furry hats.

Speaking in a recently released behind-the-scenes video, the 25-year-old star recalled her inspiration for the range and what aspects she wanted to bring into it.

"So the winter collection we are trying to incorporate a bit of floral and a bit of metallic to make it a little more elegant," she says to the camera. "I always like a nice dress in winter time - I feel like that's the time when all the balls happen. Tartan is a really big print in the winter collection. We have to put a little bit of sophistication in it."

The line is available to pre-order online now.
