Rihanna's ladylike elegance
Rihanna dressed ladylike for the Dior Cruise 2015 show yesterday.
The 26-year-old singer arrived at the event in Brooklyn Navy Yard wearing a ladylike silk frock from Christian Dior's Autumn/Winter 14 collection. To accessorise she added a pair of colourblock Dior heels and a bold patterned clutch blag, which stood out from her demure outfit. For a touch of sparkle she wore two bold bangles and a necklace, topped off with pearl earrings.
Rihanna's raven locks were pulled up into a high ponytail and curled and her iconic red lipstick completed the look perfectly.
Speaking about the location of the show the star revealed it feels like a second home to her.
“You know what, I spent most of my summers in Brooklyn,” Rihanna told WWD. “All my life, I grew up coming to Brooklyn. My late grandma and my granddad lived in Brooklyn. He still lives here. So I do make it to Brooklyn a bit whether it’s to see the game or to see my family... But now I’m here for fashion, so this is definitely different.”
Also at the event was Girls actress Allison Williams, who looked sophisticated in a navy sleeveless jumpsuit. To give the ensemble some definition the brunette beauty fastened a black belt around her waist and kept her appearance clean cut with minimal jewellery.
Her hair was worn down and straightened and her eyes were outlined with a spot of eyeliner and mascara.
Maggie Gyllenhaal also dressed smart for the occasion in a black dress with a blazer design and pleated skirt.
The fashion house unveiled 66 different looks during the show, such as a bright orange Aztec patterned dress and clean cut white midi frock.
Creative director Raf Simons took inspiration from his love of flowers for the range.
“I wanted to deal with [the carré] in a different way,” he explained. “Not as a styling element around the neck. I wanted to see how can we use that as an element [of design], and see how I could deal with prints and flowers in a different way. [I also wanted] to touch on elements of Dior history but also link to what I feel when I am in New York.”
