Rihanna's red hair explained
Rihanna's famed red locks are "big news this season", says celebrity hairstylist Sinead Kelly.
The stunning songstress has been sporting more natural curly brunette locks of late, but wowed with her daringly vivacious red hue earlier this year.
Other stars including Lily Cole, Emma Stone and Christina Hendricks all have gorgeously statement red tresses too.
Celebrity hairstylist Sinead - owner of super-glam salon Sinead Kelly London and the expert behind the dazzling blonde hair of Kimberley Wyatt - has given her top tips to achieving the perfect vibrant tone.
"Scarlet fever has officially hit the catwalk. Vibrant red, roasted chestnut and rich mahogany tones are big fashion news this season, with hair quickly following suit," she told Cover Media.
"Most importantly before you even consider dying your hair red make sure that your hair is in good condition. If hair is already damaged the colour will fade quicker because the hair shaft is damaged and the therefore the colour won't hold or penetrate completely into the hair."
Sinead has given her top tips to keeping a glossy finish.
"My advice would be to wash your hair every two to three days with silicon free colour protect products, such as Kerastase Bain Mirror 1 or 2 and a Chroma Reflect Masque. Also avoid washing hair for 48 hours after getting your colour, and book into your salon for vegetable colour gloss treatment every two to three weeks in between your main colour appointments," she explained.
"These steps will help maintain the vibrancy and shine of your colour and will give it that oomph!"
