Rita Ora confirmed for Material Girl
Rita Ora has confirmed she is "joining forces" with Madonna to front her Material Girl clothing line.
The announcement follows recent speculation that the singer had secured a £500,000 deal to front the teen range. Rita took to Twitter to reveal her excitement about her new project.
"Joining forces with Madonna and Lola!" she wrote. "It's official Ritabots - I'm the new face of Material Girl!"
Last month reports surfaced that Madonna's daughter Lourdes had recommended Rita as the perfect new face of Material Girl.
The 16-year-old was said to be a fan of the Hot Right Now star and arranged for her to meet her superstar mom.
“Lourdes has been a fan of Rita for a while and has been to many of her gigs. She persuaded her mum to see her,” a source told British newspaper The Sun.
“They met at the Met Ball in New York last week and Madonna admired Rita’s attitude so signed the idea off.”
It has been claimed the campaign has already been shot, with Rita seemingly hoping the high-profile role will help her crack the US.
Rita is following in the footsteps of Kelly Osbourne, Georgia May Jagger and singer-and-actress Taylor Momsen, who were all previous faces of Material Girl.
The 22-year-old star is known for her urban street style and is a regular on fashion show front rows, as well as being close friends with supermodel of the moment Cara Delevingne.
Rita is signed to Next Model Management and replaced Alexa Chung as the face of footwear brand Superga.
