Ryan Seacrest's suit quest

Ryan Seacrest's suits give him "confidence and identity".

The 39-year-old has been tapped by Macy's to launch the Distinction collection, which features tailored suits and furnishings by Randa Accessories and including pieces from Peerless Clothing and PVH.

Ryan is busy with his work in radio and television, but felt a responsibility to bring his sharp sense of style to the masses.

“I love a great suit,” he smiled to WWD. “As a television host for so many years, that’s what gives me a sense of confidence, style and identity. I’ve always enjoyed that moment when I get ready and put on a suit.

“Every guy needs a great suit, whether it’s for a job interview, a first date, whatever. So I wanted to offer something that gave guys that sense of optimism and confidence... Something that was quality and well-designed at an accessible price.”

Ryan is under no illusions he's not a designer himself and therefore worked very closely with Randa, Peerless and PVH to produce the line. There are cufflinks, belts and neckwear alongside the tailored clothing.

“I’ve learned and evolved during this process,” he said. "[I was] engaged at every level.”

Durand Guion, vice president and men’s fashion director for Macy’s Inc., revealed why working with Ryan was the perfect choice for the department store.

“He’s always been a trend validator, especially for young guys,” he explained.

And Ryan is clearly organised when it comes to his style. He hangs each suit next to coordinating ties and shirts so he can grab and go when he's in a rush.
