Salma Hayek: I rock leather for spouse
Salma Hayek makes an effort with her looks so her husband stays "attracted" to her.
The Mexican-American actress is married to businessman François-Henri Pinault and is famed for her stunning dark looks.
Salma is known for showing off her impressive curves in clingy leather garments and recently wore a black dress in the material to a dinner in Italy with her beau.
“I actually wear a lot of leather on the red carpet,” she explained in the latest US edition of InStyle.
“My husband loves when I wear it.”
The star looks much younger than her 46 years and shows no sign of slowing down in the fashion stakes.
Salma herself is amazed by how well she still manages to pull off tricky outfits.
“When I turned 40, I started thinking, ‘This is the last year,’ whenever I’d wear a strapless dress,” she laughed.
“I always thought you can’t wear them after a certain age, but I’m still getting away with it.”
She might seem like style comes naturally to her, but Salma insists it's not something she was born with.
Much of the time she has an agenda when she steps out looking fabulous.
“I’m not really a fashionista... I have an eye. I can pull it together, but a lot of the effort I make is for my husband, because I want him to be attracted to me," she admitted.
As one of Hollywood's most beautiful, Salma is often praised for her young looks.
However, she insists it has never been a top priority.
"I know people have always thought I was beautiful, but I have never tried to be as beautiful as I can be," she revealed.
"I could do a lot more - exercise, or not eat dessert. Or not drink alcohol. I could make bigger efforts. I don’t think my first priority in life has ever been beauty. It’s a little bit of a rebellious spirit in me. There is more to me than looks, of course."
On the cover of the magazine, the Savages star looks great in a figure-hugging red dress and her glossy brunette locks styled into soft waves.
Her make-up is immaculate, with the actress rocking a natural look that consists of defined brows, minimal eyeliner and a slick of pink lipstick.
Salma revealed the key to looking good at any age.
"I think if you are afraid of getting older, you age faster," she explained.
"You’ve got to take who you are and love who you are and do the best you can with what you’ve got. That goes for the figure, and it goes for everything else. You’ve got to have a sense of humour about who you are and give yourself a break. You’ve got to be kind to yourself. And it’s not easy, you know?"
