Saoirse Ronan talks fashion and film

Saoirse Ronan believes in the beauty and power that occurs when film and fashion combine.

The 19-year-old Irish actress has appeared alongside some of Hollywood's most glamorous stars, including Rachel Weisz and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Although fashion does interest her, Saoirse wouldn't sacrifice her acting in order to model for campaigns.

"It's nice to get to work with stylists like Grace Coddington [who styled Saoirse for the cover of the December 2011 issue of Vogue US] and see how genius their creations are. In lots of ways fashion and film - like music and film- go hand-in-hand. It's an art form and when they are put together in the right way, they can be very beautiful and powerful," she told UK magazine Stylist. "So if it's connected to film, that's great, but I'm not going to suddenly start doing campaigns. I'm an actor first and foremost."

Saoirse revealed her passion for music from the past decades. The '70s is the era she likes the most, but not for the clothing sported during this time.

"[I'd like to go back to] the '70s, because I love the music from the era. I love Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Jackson Brown, Joni Mitchell and Carole King. My mam listens to a lot of that stuff and my dad does too," she explained. "The fashion from the '70s was a bit dodgy though."

The fast-rising star has appeared in films such as Atonement and Hanna. She's set to continue her movies successes with future roles in The Grand Budapest Hotel. When she's not working, the pretty redhead likes to relax, which for her means avoiding shopping.

"I wish I could say shopping, but after a few hours I get really stressed out," she previously laughed to UK magazine Company. "I like reading, watching films and going to concerts. I like popping over to London and spending time in east London - the vibe over there is very cool."
