SATC prequel embraces '80s accessories
The Carrie Diaries' costume designer says the most "cringe-worthy" items on the show are the "scrunchies".
Eric Daman has also worked for super stylish show Gossip Girl and now lends his creative hand to the Sex and the City prequel.
Set in the '80s, the clothes worn by AnnaSophia Robb - who plays a young Carrie Bradshaw - have gone down well with viewers, but Eric admits there are some not-so-stylish accessories.
"So many designers wanted to be part of the show. Who doesn't want to dress a young Carrie Bradshaw?" he told British magazine Grazia.
"[Are there cringe-worthy '80s moments?] Oh, there are definitely some scrunchies."
On Sex and the City, Carrie was known for her enviable wardrobe and spot-on fashion choices.
The prequel sees her character starting out as a writer in New York City, so some adjustments had to be made.
"She's not going to be the super-high-fashion Carrie that we know, but she's still going to be idiosyncratic and individualistic," he explained.
"We didn't want it to be over-the-top '80s fashion. But individuality in fashion was huge then, so using that for Carrie is a great base to start from."
