Shay Mitchell says a “really good white trouser” is her style must-have for summer.

The Pretty Little Liars star is known for her incredible fashion sense, and rarely puts a foot wrong when it comes to her outfit choices.

And in a new interview, Shay, 28, told fans just what she would suggest purchasing for a capsule wardrobe ahead of the sunny season.

"I would say a good white trouser. I swear you can wear them with everything," Shay told "I'm really into the whole monotone look, whether its beiges, grey, just like a one tone look."

When it comes to accessorising, Shay is all about the minimalist approach. And she admits a versatile pair of stilettos are top of her shopping list.

"A good pair of heels, black and nude," she said. "You have to have a good pair of black and nude heels.

Shay is kept busy with a hectic schedule, which involves gruelling, long shoot days for her hit show Pretty Little Liars.

So when it comes to enjoying some time off, Shay has perfected the art of having a “vacay every day”.

"With my busy schedule, it's always nice to set aside time to just hang out with your girlfriends," Shay said. "You could just be in your backyard. Regardless of where you are, if you have good girlfriends and an amazing beverage, you're good to go.

"Another way that you can live that vacay every day lifestyle is by the clothes you wear. You feel like you're away, even when you're not on vacation."
