Silk shirts offer opulent style
Silk shirts will add a touch of luxury to any Fall/Winter wardrobe.
The sensual fabric will transform any outfit, from drab and dreary to opulent and sumptuous.
The garment has been seen all over the runway with examples from Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs and Haider Ackermann
Ackermann infused their collection with rich shades of midnight, plum and gold that evoke the opulence of Arabian nights. The shirts were draped over shoulders and pulled in to high waisted trousers.
Donna Karan's silver shirts poured down in gentle waves and were held into place with a pencil skirt.
A high waist is essential for this look. Muted shades are ideal for the daytime. Try a coffee coloured shirt with high trousers for simple chic.
Bows and ribbons can all work well with this style and flatter the neckline. Gentle folds and ruffles will look straight off the catwalk. Contrast silk against rougher thicker fabrics such as knit and tweed to stay away from looking too prissy.
In the evening richer jewel shades can be introduced. Unbutton the shirt and hold together with the high waist. Accessorise this look with large gold jewellery to add to the theme of lavishness.
