SJP debuts shoes
Sarah Jessica Parker showed off her footwear line to editors yesterday.
The former Sex and the City star introduced her SJP footwear collection at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City yesterday.
Her onscreen character, Carrie Bradshaw, is famed for her love of shoes and Sarah seems to have the same eye for style.
“Trust in the simple,” she explained to WWD. “I was so happy to support the single-sole shoe again.”
Included in the line are colours such as dove grey, cherry, asparagus and French navy.
The actress explained why picking the right shades is so important.
“I think colour can be a neutral,” she said. “People always have to ask their friends and husbands, ‘Is this navy or black?’ I want it to be clear.”
One of the shoes is named after Carrie and features a T-strap that sits further down on the ankle.
This means even smaller women can pull of the tricky style, which is known for shortening legs.
There's one thing every pair has in common: a small grosgrain ribbon, which features on the side of the heel or in a small tab on slip-on styles.
Sarah explained the significance.
“My sister and I always wore ribbons in our hair; we had a drawer full of grosgrain ribbon but not any money,” she said.
Business partner George Malkemus added: “I want people walking down the street to instantly know a woman is wearing an SJP."
