So, just who is the Holywood fashion designer whose wedding guests included Pippa Middleton?

She has appeared in the society pages of Tatler magazine, hails from one of the most exclusive areas of Northern Ireland and is tipped as one of the UK’s most exciting young fashion designers.

Yet few people here had heard of Emma Logue until Pippa Middleton made a surprise appearance at her wedding in Holywood, Co Down on Saturday.

Her relatively low profile in the province is even more astonishing given the remarkable story behind her success in the cut-throat world of high fashion.

For only a few years ago Emma (31) was working in the relatively stuffy world of banking. That all changed, however, when, frustrated with the dull business clothes she was forced to wear, Emma decided to design her own pieces.

Such was their popularity that shortly afterwards she switched careers completely.

Undoubtedly, though, the royal aunt-in-waiting’s decision to fly in to see Emma (31) marry software developer Alex Roupell is an indication of just how close the two young women are.

While her pregnant sister Kate rested up at Kensington Palace after being discharged from hospital, Pippa was at the St Philip and St James Holywood parish church in Co Down, close to the Logue's family home in Helen's Bay.

And following the ceremony Pippa joined other wedding guests for a reception held in a marquee in the grounds of the family home, well away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi.

It’s thought that Emma first befriended Pippa while at college and they have continued to mix in the same social circles.

Emma worked as a banker for Morgan Stanley in London before turning her talents to fashion. A fan of the classic shirt dress, the slim blonde commissioned a local seamstress to make several dresses to her own detailed design.

The dresses, each with a different collar and sleeve style, proved a huge success with her friends. Within three weeks, she had sold up to 100.

So, buoyed by her success, she decided to enrol at the London College of Fashion and quit her high-powered City job.

In January this year, she set up her own brand, LOGUE London. Among the clientele of the luxury fashion label is good friend Pippa, who has been spotted wearing one of her signature shirt dresses while out shopping in Chelsea.

On Saturday, Pippa opted for a navy silk dress, feather fascinator and fur stole.

The bride herself was fashionably late, arriving in a silver, period Daimler.

Still, not everyone was feeling quite so relaxed — Bradley Quinn, cousin to Jonny Quinn of Snow Patrol, admitted with a smile as he prepared to take family photos: “It's a bit more stress.”

There was a real snappers' scrum after the hour-long ceremony as lensmen rearranged trees in a bid for the best shot.

Ms Middleton chatted to people afterwards, before getting back on to a yellow bus, her transport for the reception at the Logues' home.

Still, she’s certainly media savvy, ignoring reporters’ shouts of: “Would you like a niece or nephew, Pippa?”
