Stars 'match hair to outfits'
Celebrity stylist Charles Worthington says red carpet gowns "definitely affect" stars' hairstyles.
The beauty professional styled the likes of Dowton Abbey star Jessica Brown-Findlay for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) last weekend.
Charles says the overall red carpet ensemble determines his client's hairstyle. He works closely with stars to decide on a suitable way to wear their locks that will complement their gorgeous gowns.
"The dress definitely affects the hair style that we create. We work very closely with the actresses in the weeks leading up to an event like the BAFTAs, often creating several different hairstyles with each dress to create the perfect look," he revealed.
"Often, if a dress has an intricate neckline that needs showing off, I'll style hair swept back off the face, or in a loose side chignon."
Charles says Jessica is a joy to work with ahead of red carpet events and always inspires him with her natural beauty. He also revealed the best product to use to achieve the Downton Abbey star's pretty BAFTAs look.
"I love the modern twist on the classic ballerina bun that I created for Jessica Brown-Findlay. Jessica's one of my favourite actresses of the moment and was also my muse for the Charles Worthington Limited Edition BAFTA 25 Years Collection," he told Grazia online.
"The ballerina bun is very easy to replicate, you just need a simple hair elastic and bun ring to style, with Limited Edition Big Bounce Spray for hold."
Charles has rebuffed claims that there is any craziness before his clients walk out onto the red carpet.
"There are never any last minute dramas, the only thing that might happen is a last minute dress change and often if the dress changes, so does the hair. I never see it as a drama, more a challenge!" he laughed.
