Striped knitwear injects excitement
Add dimension and excitement to your winter wardrobe with a striped jumper.
The bold look was seen up and down this season's runways, with stripes pulling outfits together and adding a bold pop of pattern.
DKNY was inspired by the grunge look of the 90s and kept stripes bold and horizontal. The shapes were slouchy with a wide round neck and hung loosely over shoulders.
Only two accent colours were used and they were kept bold.
Some knits went monochrome whereas others clashed cherry red with Barbie pink.
The look was paired with skinny jeans or miniskirts and finished with chunky biker boots.
Marc by Marc Jacobs took a different approach and matched fine horizontal stripes with navy blue knee length skirts.
The look was made prim and proper with a smart hat and baby doll socks.
To wear this trend for the office take inspiration from Marc and keep tones muted and matched. Make sure knits are fitted and pair with skirts or trousers from a similar hue.
For a more casual approach, try the DKNY style and opt for a loose version with wider stripes. Clash colours and pair with big dark accessories to add a rockier edge.
Throw on a tailored coat to bring a little smartness to the style if needed.
