Tina Fey took home the glasses she wore on 30 Rock before realizing they were only a prop.

The American actress has become synonymous with the black-rimmed glasses she can often be spotted in.

Liz Lemon, her onscreen alter ego in smash hit show 30 Rock, also donned the spectacles, although they had no real health benefits and were merely a prop.

"People certainly have a thing about glasses. Liz Lemon wore them all the time and I wear them. The ones I wore on 30 Rock were fake and for years I kept borrowing them - I'd take them home and go to the movies," Tina divulged to Britain's Time Out London magazine.

"I finally realised they were fake, they did not have any prescription in them!"

Tina, who has been hailed as a "four-eyed sex symbol" in the past, likes the attention her glasses have garnered, but says if she's glamming up for the red carpet, she tends to leave her specs at home.

Tina's rule is that if she's wearing a dress she'll go without her glasses, for fear of looking like a Dustin Hoffman character.

"Yes it's a fetishised object [glasses], but I don't feel like I have to wear them all the time any more. I try not to wear them if I'm wearing a gown... If I'm too dressed up with glasses, I tend to look like Tootsie," she laughed.

For her latest role, 43-year-old Tina has to contend with the ever glamorous Miss Piggy in new movie Muppets Most Wanted.

The porky puppet confessed to the magazine that her ultimate style crush is Britain's Duchess of Cambridge, because she loves the grandeur of royal life.

"Royalty [is what London does best]. Not just Kate and William, but all the trappings of royal living - the jewels, the changing of the guard, those adorable gold-encrusted fairytale carriages. It's all so fantastique and over the top! Just like Hollywood," Miss Piggy enthused.
