Troian Bellisario takes 'badass' classes

Troian Bellisario's trainer wants to do more than just keep her looking "pretty".

The Pretty Little Liars star keeps busy with her shooting schedule for the teen drama, which premiered the first episode of its fifth season yesterday.

However, she always makes time for a workout with Mark Wildman, who teaches her aerial exercises and self-defence.

"We’ve been working together over two years now. It is entirely dependent on her shooting schedule, but if we are lucky we can sneak in two sessions a week," he revealed to Shape.com.

"Her time is very limited so we need to engineer our training to be as efficient as possible. Her current focus is on aerial silks and, if time permits, full contact self-defence fight training.

"These are both total body, core intensive training strategies. Before she came to me, she had done the standard Hollywood fitness designed more to make people look pretty. I train to keep people alive and teach them a highly complex physical skill. We’re not trying to look like a badass; we’re trying to make you into one."

It can be hard living a life in the limelight, and Troian's Pretty Little Liars co-star Lucy Hale admitted she suffered from an eating disorder for some time.

The 28-year-old recently revealed that she can relate to her friend and fellow actress.

"Lucy and I struck up a bond because we both have been through very similar things. We are a good form of support for each other when we see each other slipping backward or in need of support. I'm really proud of her for being open and honest. It's a very brave thing to do and I support her all the way," Troian told Seventeen magazine.

The star and her castmates Lucy, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pieterse recently got glammed up and hit the red carpet to celebrate the show's 100th episode.
