Vin Diesel: 'The less I exercise, the more I enjoy it'

Vin Diesel looks forward to working out as it’s the one time of the week he doesn’t have to juggle his schedule.

Vin Diesel enjoys working out more now that he’s cut back on exercising.

The Furious 7 actor could be mistaken for a bodybuilder with his bulking physique, but insists he no longer breaks a sweat as much as some people might think.

“I work out less and enjoy it more these days,” he told Men’s Health. “It’s a time in my week where I don’t have to juggle things. I can just exercise and be present.

“When I play Dominic in Fast (& Furious) I want to look strong but authentic – not buff. But to play Xander in (upcoming movie) xXx I work with MMA fighters. And I did a lot of yoga when I played Riddick. There aren’t a ton of constants – maybe just cardio work and a lot of core.”

People haven’t always been in awe of his muscles though; in October 2015 Vin was photographed topless on a balcony showing off a rather large belly. He jokes his figure was down to becoming a dad again to daughter Pauline, who he has with girlfriend Paloma Jimenez. The couple is also parents to son Vincent and daughter Hania.

While he can laugh off the “dad bod” comments, the messages did open his eyes to one thing.

“That stupid episode gave me an idea of how bad body shaming can be,” he sighed of being on the receiving end of online bullies. “I don’t really give a c**p, but I saw how cruel it can be.”

The 49-year-old actor has a busy schedule ahead with seven films in the pipeline, including three more Fast & Furious flicks and reprising his role of Riddick in Furia and Groot in the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy.
