Zooey Deschanel red carpet look explained

Zooey Deschanel's make-up artist "brought out the big guns" for her Golden Globes red carpet look.

The actress wowed at the award ceremony on Sunday in a custom-made green and black Prada gown. Zooey's make-up artist Jorjee Douglas has explained the inspiration behind the star's beauty look.

"Zooey is one of my favourite clients because she loves to have fun with her make-up, hair and fashion. We brought out the big guns for a stunning red carpet look unlike any other," the beauty pro told website Beauty High.

"I was inspired by Emma Peel from the 60s British TV show The Avengers. I wanted Zooey's beautiful skin to glow so I started with Rimmel London's Fix & Perfect Pro Primer which is a must-do step to hydrate and matify the skin."

Jorjee also explained how she achieved the rest of Zooey's gorgeous look. She created a sultry "cat eye" shape using Rimmel London's Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Liner "on the top of the lid and added a feathered line on the bottom".

A black eyeshadow and a soft rose eyeshadow were then blended to create a gorgeous smoky eye. Lashings of mascara was used to add to the dramatic look.

Jorjee finished by highlighting Zooey's cheeks with a "touch of blush" and a nude pink lipstick.
