Zosia Mamet: I’m a SoulCycle sweater
Zosia Mamet "screams at the top of her lungs" while in a SoulCycle class.
The 26-year-old actress is best known for her role as Shoshanna Shapiro in hit TV show Girls, in which she sports an array of kooky outfits. She may be busy with work but when away from the camera Zosia still makes the time to work out, and has found one particular activity which fuels her energy.
"I’m actually someone who really enjoys working out. I’ve liked it every since I was young. I love running, and I love to sweat," she explained to Refinery29. "I’m a horseback rider but I have not been able to find a barn yet that I love on the east coast, but the thing that has taken its place at the moment is SoulCycle. I have drunk the Kool-Aid and I do not care - I love it with a deep passion. I’m totally that girl who’s flinging her towel over her head and screaming at the top of her lungs."
Zosia is so keen during her classes that she admits to sitting in the front row, and added that she feels a sense of "respect" between her and her fellow SoulCyle enthusiasts.
The star, who recently swapped her long brunette locks for a blonde bob, spoke out last month in September's issue of US Glamour and revealed she used to have an eating disorder. Her heart-breaking piece triggered people to open up about their own struggles and Zosia is pleased by the positive responses.
“People have been incredibly gracious and kind. The reason I really wanted to write it was to try and effect even a tiny bit of change, and to try to reach some people to make them feel like they are not alone, or that their experience isn’t a solo one," she added. "I’ve had some feedback from friends who have friends of friends who have said that [the article] has helped, and that, to me, has been absolute gold. I think it’s something that’s not talked about as much or as candidly as it should be, and that’s what I was trying to do.”
