Fashion spy: Cheryl has a trendy style but Miley Cyrus looks silly

Our reporter Kerry McKittrick checks out the style in Belfast city centre and finds plenty of trendy people out and about.

Bronach Ross (20)

Beauty therapist, Belfast

Wore what? Coat, £60, bag, £45, River Island; shirt, £20, Dorothy Perkins; leggings, £5, Primark; boots, £35, JustFab.com.

Why? This is a dressed-down look for me as I usually wear heels and dresses. I don't do Crocs or anything too casual.

Who? Kim Kardashian looks fantastic and dresses for her curves, but I don't go for chavvy styles like Kerry Katona or Britney Spears.

Tina Hastings (28)

Cabin crew, Belfast

Wore what? Jacket, £100, River Island; top, £3, Primark; jeans, £40, Zara; boots, £25, Peacocks; bag, £20, New Look

Why? I'm a bit of a rock chick so I like blacks, greys and a bit of leather. I always brighten outfits up with jewellery and scarves. I don't like anything too girly, such as neon colours or pinks.

Who? Kate Moss can pull the rock chick look off every now and then, but I don't like Tulisa's style. It's too chavvy.

Laura Kylie (22)

Student, Sligo

Wore what? Jacket, £30, H&M; dress, £30, Bershka; boots, £100, Dr Martens; bag, present, Mischa Barton.

Why? My style is quite grungy and I've started buying lots of long skirts to go with my Dr Martens. I never wear pink as it doesn't suit my complexion.

Who? Rihanna has a cool, edgy style which she mixes with a bit of rock chick. I always think Kate Upton gets it wrong, even though she has a lovely figure.

  • Monthly spend £200

Hannah Garrett (19)

Passenger service agent, Aghalee

Wore what?: Coat, £45, boots, present, New Look; top, £35, Next; jeans, £38, Topshop; bag, present, Michael Kors.

Why? I'm not into the whole hipster thing as I much prefer to dress smartly. I would never wear sweat pants or tracksuits out in public.

Who? Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl has a lovely, preppy style. I wouldn't mix and match trainers and dresses like Lily Allen, though.

Nicole Hastings (20)

Student, Glenarm

Wore what? Coat, £25, SheInside.com; t-shirt, £10, plimsolls, £20, River Island; jeans, £7, Primark; bag, £140, Michael Kors.

Why? I dress more for comfort than fashion so I wear lots of trainers with nice coats. I don't like anything sequinned or glittery - that's a step too far for me.

Who? Cheryl Cole has a nice, trendy style but Miley Cyrus just looks silly.
