The 29-year-old artist focuses on iconic Northern Ireland landscapes, landmarks and musical traditions. He divides his time between Belfast, where he lives with his fiancee Evana Bjourson, and his studio in Kilrea.
MY BEST MOMENT
It was when I got down on one knee to propose to Evana at Castle Eske in Donegal. It was very private with just the two of us and thankfully she said 'Yes'.
MY BEST WAY TO RELAX
I'm a big swimmer and try to go for a swim at least every other day. At the moment I use a swimming pool as the sea is a bit cold at this time of the year. I can really lose myself in the pool.
MY BEST JOB
Although I previously worked in Corporate Communications, I gave up the day job about four years ago to focus on my artistic practice. I have around four or five solo exhibitions each year now and there is always someone calling into the studio in Kilrea to view work or discuss a commission. Being an artist can be a lonely profession but through the exhibitions and studio visits I meet lots of interesting people.
MY BEST ADVICE
I was lucky enough to take part in the Washington-Ireland programme, which promotes peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and tries to identify the next generation of young leaders. On the programme in America I met Mark Shields, a veteran broadcast journalist. He told me I should follow my passion, not the pension.
MY BEST GIFT
A yellow go-cart that was a birthday present from my parents when I was about seven or eight. It was the most popular gift that I had for years and every one of my friends wanted to have a go on it when they came to the house.
MY BEST GIFT
It's O Mio Babbino Caro, sung by Maria Callas. I just love her voice. I'm a choral singer myself so I love classical music.
MY BEST ACHIEVEMENT
Professionally it's been getting through 2013. I've had a quite a few exhibitions, including one that launched my career in Dublin. I also finished off a PhD which looked at the concept of entrepreneurship within the creative industries.
MY BEST BUY
I'm a bit obsessed with lamps so my best buy is a Murano lamp that I bought in Venice. The first time I saw it I actually ended up dreaming about it, so I had to go back and purchase it. Evana and I are currently building a house so we're deciding on a special place to put it.
MY BEST MOVIE
It has to be Good Vibrations -- the story of punk mogul Terri Hooley discovering The Undertones. Richard Dormer plays Terri and is his usual brilliant self. I loved the story and the film.
MY BEST BOOK
I'm not much of a reader but a book that has stayed with me since childhood is The Silver Sword. It's a novel by Ian Serraillier about a primary school teacher from Warsaw searching for his family in World War Two.
