All The Best: Meagan Green

We ask personalities what are their most favourite things

By Kerry McKittrick

The 24-year-old from Lisburn is the reigning Miss Northern Ireland. She will hand over her crown to the next winner at the Miss Northern Ireland Final at the Belfast's Europa Hotel on May 12

My best moment

That has to be being crowned Miss Northern Ireland last year. I came second the year before and as it was the last year I was eligible to enter because of my age I thought I should give it one more try. I didn't want to regret not doing it. I didn't expect to win, but I had so much fun the first time round it brought me completely out of my shell.

My best song

Something current in the charts that I can sing along to so I'll choose Happy by Pharrell Williams. I do get a few funny looks at traffic lights when people see me singing away!

My best way to relax

Strange as it sounds I love to hit the gym. I go first thing in the morning, workout with my personal trainer Ian Young then come home for breakfast. I love how fit and energetic it makes me. If you enjoy it, it doesn't feel like a chore.

My best buy

I invested a few weeks ago in an omelette pan and it's been the best thing ever. When I come home from the gym I throw in eggs, mushrooms and spinach and have a nice healthy breakfast full of protein.

My best job

I worked in retail before I was Miss Northern Ireland as well as studying business management. Since my win, I've been working for ACA Modelling Agency and I've loved every minute of it. No two jobs are the same and you travel all over Ireland and the UK. I love getting out and about and meeting new people.

My best advice

My mum is the lady who gives me all the advice. The best thing she ever told me was to speak clearly and slowly. It's served me well from Miss World, which I took part in after winning Miss Northern Ireland, to TV and radio interviews.

Northern Irish people tend to speak fast but I can always hear my mum in my head, telling me to slow down.

My best gift

I was very lucky as my parents got me a car after I passed my driving test when I was 18. It was a sporty white Astra with sports alloys and heated seats – it was my baby! I still have the car, although this year I've been driving the Miss Northern Ireland car, a Kia Rio, which is beautiful and also has heated seats!

My best achievements

Other than being crowned Miss Northern Ireland it's got to be coming third in the Miss World Sports and Fitness category. My trainer Ian had put me through my paces before I left so it was down to him. I kept my head down and worked really hard to come third out of 137 others.

My best movie

I love a comedy and have a soft spot for James Franco so I really liked Pineapple Express. I also think Seth Rogen is great in Knocked Up. Any movie that you see either of them in is a must-see in my book.

My best book

I'm not a real bookworm but the book Some Party In Heaven captivated me and I read the whole thing in eight hours. It's a Christian biography by Noel Davidson. I have about three copies in the house which I lend out to people who are looking for a good read.
