How film star Doris Day kept me calm when the storm winds blew
The weather forecasters must have had film star Doris Day in mind when they named Storm Doris that blew all over the UK last week.
As trees fell in the snow and the wind howled at 95mph in some districts I'm certain the idea was that thinking of one of Miss Day's hits would keep us calm during this frightening upset in the weather.
Doris, who will be 93 on April 3, sang favourites like Secret Love, It's Magic, Fly Me to the Moon, On Moonlight Bay and When I Fall in Love in films like Pillow Talk, Calamity Jane, Send Me No Flowers and Move Over Darling.
Her song that appeals most to me is Que Sera Sera, Whatever Will Be Will Be. Actually that would be the correct attitude to adopt when warnings of impending storms are broadcast.
