Joanne Bunting: 'I feel privileged to represent East Belfast because I'm from there and I love it'

All the best: Joanne Bunting

The 42 year-old is the DUP MLA for East Belfast and is married to Keith.

My best moment

Having been in politics for so long I have done some amazing things. I've toured Number 10 Downing Street and I've toured the Houses of Parliament but the thing that stands out the most is the day I had lunch with the Queen. I was just one table away from her at Titanic Belfast during her Jubilee tour. I was really emotional about the whole thing and it was a really lovely day.

My best song

I love Super Massive Black Hole by Muse and it was my ringtone for a long time. I also really like Sugar by Maroon 5.

My best way to relax

I enjoy changing into my sweat pants, ordering some takeaway food and then having a nice glass of wine with a good boxset. It's all about good food and good company for me.

My best job

I love being an MLA but I've only been in the job for 10 months, so there hasn't been a chance to do an awful lot yet. I spent nine years in the DUP whip's office and I loved it. It was a really politically sensitive job and I needed a really good understanding of Assembly procedures. It felt like I was at the coal face of Northern Ireland politics.

My best advice

I can be a bit of a worrier about things but my best advice was, if you never try then you'll never know. My mum would give me a lot of good advice too. She would tell me to do my best and if it's for me then it won't go past me.

My best gift

For my 40th birthday Keith took me to London and we had lunch in Marcus Wareing's restaurant. It was an unusual thing for us to do but it was an unbelievable experience - the place was beautiful.

My best movie

The first is Tombstone, I love that period in American history. The second is While You Were Sleeping, it's hilarious and Sandra Bullock is really funny in it.

My best achievement

Having the opportunity to represent East Belfast. I feel really privileged to do it because I'm from here and I love it so this has been a great opportunity. I so want to build on the trust that people have put in me.

My best buy

My husband and I got really cheap flights to the States and we took the opportunity to travel round a lot of Civil War sites. I love reading about that period of history and I can never pick which side I would have backed. The fact that there were so many intertwined relationships and all the generals knew each other always fascinated me. Walking on the roads that those men had walked on was something else.

My best book

It's Grant and Sherman - the Friendship that Won The Civil War. It's a big read but it's full of titbits and personal insights into the friendship between those two men.
