Bad v Good: Michelle Fairley took on Kiefer Sutherland in 24
Bad v Good: Michelle Fairley took on Kiefer Sutherland in 24

Northern Ireland actors and actresses have been springing up all over the television in recent weeks.

It all started for me when Geraldine Hughes from west Belfast appeared alongside Tom Selleck in the American TV cop show Blue Bloods.

A couple of weeks later Glen Wallace from Ballymena was in EastEnders playing the part of the policeman who broke the news to Ian Beale that his daughter Lucy had been murdered.

And last week Coleraine's Michelle Fairley played the baddie in the superb US drama 24 which returned to the screens with Kiefer Sutherland again playing the good guy. But don't listen to anyone who tells you that Michelle is the first local actor to appear in 24.

For that honour fell to Mark Aiken from Martinez Avenue in east Belfast who was in season seven.
