Why it should have been Len stepping away from Strictly

Len Goodman

The wrong man walked away from Strictly Come Dancing. Unlikeable (in my book) judge Len Goodman should have departed after his unseemly squabble with popular Will Young, which ended with Goodman telling the Pop Idol favourite to "show up, keep up and shut up".

Nobody has the right to use that sort of language, especially on television - even if they are an authority on dance.

Goodman must have been aware that Will (37) has had his problems, including bouts of depression brought on by worry over his twin brother, Rupert, who has tried to kill himself several times. He should have been more tolerant.

I have to confess I've never liked know-all Len. I'm delighted he is leaving Strictly at the end of the current season.
