The 10 best gins

Hoxton Gin is made by trendy east-London brewer Gerry Calabrese who adds distillates of tarragon, iris, grapefruit and, unusually, coconut to give a fruity, tropically-flavoured drink.
One of the happy leftovers of the 18th Century British occupation of Minorca, the Xoriguer distillery continues to makes small-batch gin from distilled wine, rather than coarse grain distillate. Delicate and refined.
Anchor of San Francisco's gin may have a kick like a mule, but that doesn't stop the herby flavour of this tipple jumping out at you.
