Anyone remember old soldier Ernie Burns, a warrant officer, late of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers? His sons, David, an electrician, and Ernest, a joiner, are compiling his Army and British Legion history for the family and are anxious to talk to former comrades of their dad who served in several countries including Kenya where David was born.

Widower Ernie of Sydenham, who died last year at 87, was a security officer in the Belfast Telegraph when he returned to civilian life and was an official of the newspaper's branch of the Legion.

Ring David Burns at 028 9045 4672 if you knew his father and can help him fill in the gaps, especially after the merger of the Fusiliers with the Royal Irish Rangers.
