Just born: Debbie and Christopher Mailey
Our little miracle Charlotte is a dream come true
Debbie and Christopher Mailey from Lambeg are celebrating the birth of their beautiful daughter.
Charlotte Rosanna Mailey weighed 9lbs 1oz and measured 51cms when she was born at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast on January 31 at 4.38pm.
Museum professional Debbie (27) and Christopher (27), an administration officer, were thrilled to welcome the beautiful baby girl into the world, as they had been told their chances of having children were slim.
"I have endometriosis and my husband had cancer so we were told we probably wouldn't be able to have children," Debbie said.
"We feel so lucky we have got the opportunity to be parents."
Debbie recalled holding her daughter for the first time.
"We were so overwhelmed," she said. "We had been betting about what we would have. Christopher won the bet!"
The new mum praised staff at the Royal for the care they provided her young family.
"It was a tough labour because my waters broke on Friday and Charlotte was not born until Saturday night," Debbie said. "The staff were great."
The Maileys would also like to thank friends and family for their "overwhelming support".
Debbie and Christopher are enjoying the challenges of parenthood.
"It's great," Debbie said.
"All the hard work is worth it when she smiles at you.
"She is doing well, sleeping quite well at night and is very alert for all the age of her."
