Just born: Harry Cooper
When Lisa and Matthew Cooper arrived at Antrim Area Hospital to bring their new child into the world, they had already decided on a water birth.
Little Harry duly arrived at 4.15pm on Friday, November 18, weighing in at an impressive 7lbs 15oz.
Lisa, a social worker, had been in labour for nearly three hours. She had liked the idea of a water birth and, because there were no complications, she was granted her wish.
So happy was she with the experience that she said she would do it all over again.
Lisa also had nothing but praise for the midwives at Antrim Area Hospital.
She said: “They were just fantastic. They promoted a lot of self-activity, like walking to help with the labour.”
The birth itself ran smoothly and, within 25 minutes of Lisa going into the birthing pool, the Coopers welcomed their son into the world.
Lisa praised the staff for the attention given to her and Harry during the birth.
“When it came to giving birth, they couldn’t do much but watch, yet they were there every step of the way.”
Harry joins big sister Kerry (9) in the Cooper household.
“Kerry has been a great help — she has made things a lot easier for us,” said Lisa.
“Harry has been sleeping really well.
“He was crying a bit this morning, but that was only because he was hungry.
“If he didn’t cry every once in a while, you could almost forget he was here. He’s just so content.”
