Louise and Michael Cooper from Bangor are celebrating the birth of their second child.

Jessica Elin Cooper weighed 8lbs 9oz when she was born at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald on April 9 at 1pm.

A little sister for two-year-old Evan, she is the first granddaughter for Louise's side of the family.

The Coopers decided there are so few real surprises in life that they would not find out in advance if they were expecting a boy or girl.

"It was a surprise," Louise said. "She was just lovely.

"Michael had a look at her first of all.

"She looks a lot like Evan when he was a baby."

Louise praised the staff the Ulster for the care they have provided.

"They were really good," she said.

"Everyone was very reassuring. It was quite a relaxed experience."

Jessica is thriving.

"She's doing very well," Louise said.

"She is really good, sleeping quite well at night. Not totally, but we are not exhausted."

And Evan is adjusting to his new role as big brother.

"He is happy enough with baby Jess," Louise said.

"He is getting used to her. He is still in charge!"

Friends and family had been lining up to meet the little one.

"We are just dying to show her off to everyone," Louise said.

"We are just delighted with her. I love having a little girl in the house."
